Jim Almond, area director of the Alexandria-Fairfax Region Boys and Girls Club and former Alexandria-Olympic Boys and Girls Club branch director, was promoted to vice president of branch operations of Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, Alexandria-Olympic Club Board President Robert Blumel said earlier this week.

In his new role, Almond will report directly to the president and CEO of the regional organization and will serve as a member of the senior management team. He will be responsible for taking the Greater Washington branch operations to the next level of success by helping to set policy and procedure and by managing, mentoring and coaching close to 150 community-based program professionals. Almond will oversee branch operations for the 17 clubs, four outreach centers and the summer camp comprising the Greater Washington region.

Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille, who also serves on the Alexandria-Olympic Board of Directors, praised and congratulated Almond and noted that the promotion was well deserved. He added that he had never met anyone so committed to the well-being and success of children and youth, calling Almond one of a kind.
