WHO:  Jeni Upchurch, a frequent columnist on market trends for the Alexandria Times and a Realtor with McEnearney Associates.

WHERE: Office and home both in Old Town.

HOW: Born to an American military family in Germany, Jeni later began a journalism career that led to her becoming a London correspondent for ABC. She later became an assistant secretary in the US Department of Housing and Urban Development during the George Herbert Walker Bush administration. Her current career as a Realtor began five years ago after she moved to Old Town.

WHY: Jeni says she likes being a Realtor because, I have always enjoyed the people aspects of my work. I am always gratified when first-time buyers walk away smiling.

WHAT: In her rare spare time, she enjoys kayaking, sculling, horses, music and water-color painting.
