Who: Maggie Britvec, Prudential Carruthers Realtors. She has been a Multi-Million Dollar Producer for the last 10 years, obtaining her Lifetime Membership in 2006. She has her GRI certification and is now a Top Producer, Lifetime Achievement, in the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors.
Where: She has spent her career with the Old Town office and lives off Telegraph Road, just outside Old Town.
When: She became a Realtor in 1993, after returning from her government job in England, with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). The Realtor who found me my property asked if I had ever thought of being a Realtor, because she said I would be perfect for it, Maggie recalls. When I got back to the States I looked into it, and I have been doing it ever since. Government work was no longer right for me, after I started my family. Real estate is the perfect career for working mothers because of the flexible hours.
Helping first time buyers and renters launched her career. She says she still believes those are the clients that need her help and assistance the most, and has helped them buy their second and even third homes.
Why: What she likes best about her profession, she says, is meeting new people, getting to know different neighborhoods, spending every day differently than the day before!
What: Maggie has been a resident of Alexandria since 1984 when she came here from Michigan as a political science graduate. Married to Kel Britvec, she is the mother of Trevor, Maddie and Tony, who attend public schools. Maggie is very involved at Cameron Elementary, Mark Twain Middle School and Edison High School, where she has chaired the Senior All Night Grad Party for two years. She is also an active member of the Huntington and Burgundy Community Associations. In addition, she is a precinct captain for the Lee District Democrats.
A member of the Mt. Vernon Health and Racquet Club, she says she also loves playing tennis.
