Washington is known for some culinary fame, but Old Town, just across the river, is home to the areas best chef, best fine dining restaurant and the next big name in the culinary world, according to the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington.
The 2009 RAMMY Awards named Robert Wiedmaier, the chef of BRABO and BRABO Tasting Room on King Street, Chef of the Year on Sunday at the award ceremony in Washington. Wiedmaier opened the restaurant in April as part of The Lorian luxury hotel.
Restaurant Eve took the award for best Fine Dining Restaurant home to its location on S. Pitt Street. Well-known chef Cathal Armstrong heads the upscale restaurant with American cuisine, which had been nominated for the award twice before.
The Rising Culinary Star award went to Anthony Chittum, chef at Vermillion, the Old Town restaurant with modern American cuisine.
The awards taken home by Alexandrias own are considered some of the top awards in the contest.
