A local mother and son were arrested on multiple charges after a civil dispute with another man led an altercation with city police.
The dispute began over a vehicle sale, but officials arent clear why it escalated, said Jody Donaldson, police department spokesman. Hadiatu Kamara, 41, and her son Alusine Kanu, 21, both of Alexandria, were arguing with an unidentified man when police arrived at 5300 block of Knole Court about 3:28 p.m. on September 24.
When officers told Kamara and Kanu the dispute was a civil manner they became hostile, Donaldson said. As police took Kanu into custody, Kamara intervened, grabbing an officers hands, trying to prevent her sons arrest.
Kanu faces disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice charges. His mother, Kamara, is charged with assault on police and obstruction of justice.
