The Alexandria Harmonizers were awarded 5th place in the international Chorus Contest of the Barbershop Harmony Society in Philadelphia last Friday.
The 100-voice chorus competed among 27 groups from all over the United States, Canada and England. The group also received the honor of performing during Philadelphias Fourth of July celebration at Independence Hall.
The Alexandria Harmonizers are supported in part by the Alexandria Commission for the Arts and the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities. The barbershop singers next scheduled event will be at the Twilight Concert at Fort Ward Park Amphitheater on Thursday, July 15, at 7:30 p.m.
