Advancement Via Individual Determination, better known by its acronym AVID, is looking for tutors, ACPS officials said last week. If you know a retired teacher, college student, intersession teacher or stay-at-home parent looking for a way to help middle- and high-school students realize their dreams of attending college, then an AVID tutor position may be the way to connect with students in our community.
Flexible hours and scheduling allow tutors to assist students during the school day. AVID tutors work between four and 12 hours per week depending on the program need and tutor availability, according to ACPS. Tutors will be paid $15 per hour.
Additional information about the AVID program may be found at www.avidonline.org or contact Principal for Special Projects Grace Taylor at grace.taylor@acps.k12.va.us or at 703-824-6656. Online applications, which are due by September 8, may be completed at www.acps.k12.va.us/hr/jobs_apply.php.
