The Center for Alexandrias Children hosted its 2nd Annual Family Fun Day September 19 at John Adams Elementary School. Sponsored in partnership with the City of Alexandrias Departments of Human Services, Recreation, Health, Mental Health and Substance Abuse and the Alexandria City Public Schools, the event celebrated the children and families of the City of Alexandria. The free event for families featured food from Red, Hot and Blue, live entertainment and a variety of interactive exhibits and activities designed to provide useful information and resources to keep children safe and families strong.

The events and entertainment for the children included Washington area childrens musicians, playgroups for children, demonstrations by local athletes, a petting zoo, moon bounces, face painting and crafts. The Family Fun Day also included four main tents focused on Keeping Kids Safe from Abuse, Health and Safety, a Parent Caf and Get Involved, Alexandria!

Digital identification kits were made available for parents with support from the Alexandria Police Department and SafeAssured ID, and health professionals were on hand to administer flu shots and blood pressure checks.

The CAC is a public-private partnership dedicated to the elimination of child abuse in the City of Alexandria.
