Two Alexandria City Public Schools students, Alexandra Lemke and Ana Blanco Arqueta, have been selected as finalists in an international art competition for Save the Frogs.
Last spring, as eighth-grade students attending George Washington Middle School, Lemke and Arqueta submitted watercolor paintings supporting the Save the Frogs organizations mission: To protect amphibian populations and the habitats in which they live, and to create a society that respects, enjoys and protects nature and wildlife. Their creations were among those selected as semifinalists from close to 400 entries and now have a chance to take the top prize.
