Artist returns from another time.
Old Towns Prince Royal Gallery artist Catherine Hillis recently returned to present time after enjoying a month as artist-in-residence in the French medieval port town of Dinan in Brittany (circa 1100) a place that evokes Cinderella, replete with castles, cathedrals, stone houses and encased by medieval town walls. Awarded the Les Amis de la Grande Vigne, the established watercolorist painted scenes of village life, beaches, and abbeys and was given private access to Monets famous garden. Ancient walk reaches back to find a way forward.
Modeled after the 13th century Chartres Cathedral, France, the monthly labyrinth walk at Christ Church provides all-faiths a here-and-now pilgrimage in this historic circular-walk tradition. Entrenched with mystical and centering effects, the tradition meets and deepens the spiritual journey of every person, explained labyrinth co-coordinator Melinda Hudson. The experience is an intimate, meditative, peaceful avenue to exploring faith. www.historicchristchurch.org
