Kingstowne Tosties named Harriet Matsushima its funniest speaker last week by defeating Margaret Weaver in the annual Humorous Speech Contest at the Kingstowne Center for Active Adults.
The Kingstowne Toasties is one of more than 12,500 clubs belonging to Toastmasters International, a nonprofit organization that has nearly 250,000 members in 106 countries, offering a proven way to practice and hone communication and leadership skills.
Matsushima will compete October 17 at the James McCourt Administrative Building in Woodbridge for the Division Contest. If she wins there she will be off to the District Competition, held November 14 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fairfax, and the public is invited.
Matsushima works at The College Board as executive director. Bumper Car, her very first speech in the Kingstowne Toastmasters, was the winning composition.
