Next Tuesday, the Alexandria Mentoring Partnership will hold its Third Annual Mentor Recruitment Cruise aboard the Miss Christin on the Potomac River.
Three hundred mentors will be needed for the upcoming school year in the City of Alexandria. The Alexandria Mentoring Partnership is hosting a recruitment event in order to attract new volunteers for the eight different mentoring programs in the partnership.
Mentoring has been proven to help decrease the risk of crime, substance abuse, gang involvement, teen pregnancy and poor school performance.
The reception will start at 6:30 p.m. at the seaport in Old Town. Congressman Jim Moran, Mayor Bill Euille and members of Alexandrias City Council will attend.
