A Provence wedding in nearby Lewes, Delaware. When Caroline Lechaux of Alexandria, previously a 20-year resident of France, got engaged she determined to find her dream wedding location, Provence, closer to home. Lechauxs French-inspired ceremony took place with seagulls calling, waves crashing and an ocean breeze at the Cape Henlopen State Park in Sussex County, followed by a reception at Nassau Valley Winery. The ceremony, set in a region Washingtonians use for weekend summer escapes, was to Lechaux a reminder of the coast of Marseille and the Ctes du Rhne.

Big bucks strengthen the mission.
Recently, Wal-Marts Bentonville, Ark., office called CEO Ernie Allen of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to announce that a check was in the mail, so to speak, amounting to $500,000 to revamp the groups Web site, underscoring Wal-Marts perennial support for the Center. www.missingkids.com

On Saturday Aug. 4, local band Carbon Copy helps wish the Friendship Firehouse a Happy 233rd birthday from noon-2 p.m. at the annual festival along the 100 block of South Alfred Street in Old Town. Festivities begin at 9 a.m.
