Alexandrians celebrated their relationship with one of their sister cities, Helsingborg, Sweden, last Saturday at Convergence on Quaker Lane.
The “musical extravaganza” featured a Helsingborg choir, the Lucia Girls, the 7 Sopranos and Anders Lundergard on alto saxaphone. The program was supposed to feature members of the Alexandria Choral Society and Alexandria Harmonizers, but the snowy weather kept them from attending the event.
“The weatherman went overboard in trying to make our special Swedish guests feel at home, but everyone who made it about half the Convergence hall’s capacity of 300-plus, had a great time,” said Dan McKay, board member of the Alexandria Performing Arts Association.
