The Department ofRecreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is seeking positive, energetic,committed and motivated individuals interested in becoming a volunteercheerleading coach or assistant for youth ages 5 to 16. Volunteer commitment isapproximately one to three hours per week, participation in four cheer eventsand participation in the annual exhibition and competition from September 2009through May 2010.
All candidates will berequired to complete a criminal background check, attend the National YouthSports Coaches Alliance certification clinic and attend cheerleading coachtraining and meetings.
Coach’s meetings for the2009-2010 season are scheduled for September 2 and 16 at 7 p.m. at the CoraKelly Recreation Center, 25 W. Reed Ave. The annual Cheerleading Clinic will beheld on Saturday, September 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the George WashingtonMiddle School Gymnasium, 1005 Mt. Vernon Ave. Coaches are required to attendone of the scheduled meetings and the clinic.
