More than 200 people attended the Alexandria Commission for Women’s 30th annual Salute to Women Awards Banquet Monday evening at the Crowne Plaza Old Town, where members honored nine women for “their valuable contributions to women and girls in the Alexandria community,” according to the program.

The program featured guest speakers Jane Barker and Linda Talbot-Cunningham Goldstein, who described vivid details of women’s sacrifices to further the Suffragist Movement. They informed attendees about the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial, which they helped build as a chair and member of the Memorial committee.
