Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman was the guest speaker at the November Nationals Night meeting of the Alexandria Sportsmans Club Tuesday, which drew fans of all ages to the Old Dominion Boat Club in Old Town.

I enjoy coming every year to the Sportsmans Club, Zimmerman told the captivated crowd. I love Alexandria and hope to stick around for a while.

Zimmerman took questions from the crowd, which included T.C. Williams baseball coach Andrew Simpson and several of his players, including second baseman Adam Forrer, who recently inked a scholarship deal to play ball for the University of Richmond.

The guys are really excited to be here, said Simpson, who had several baseballs and hats signed by Zimmerman to use for the teams fundraising efforts.

Also in attendance were several Alexandria Aces representatives, including coach Eric Williams.
Zimmerman, who has been with the Nationals since his major league debut in 2005, was recently named the winner of both the Golden Glove and Silver Slugger awards, recognizing him as both the top offensive and defensive player at his position.
