Thieves made off with a 5500 block Ascot Court resident’s laptop after the victim left the West End apartment unlocked earlier this month, say Alexandria police.

Authorities didn’t say where the victim was at the time of the theft, but they believe the burglars entered the home between 2 and 2:40 p.m. October 19. The incident was not reported until about 5 p.m., according to police records. 

Nothing else was taken, said department spokeswoman Ashley Hildebrandt. There were no witnesses, and the suspects remain at large. 

Officials recommend residents lock their doors and ensure their homes are secure before leaving the premises, Hildebrandt said.
