An unlocked and open garage door led thieves directly into an Alexander Street house while the homeowner was out on an early morning walk with his dog, police say. 

The burglars made away with a television and a purse before the 1 block resident reported the theft about 3:56 a.m., March 24. 

Authorities believe the suspects got in through the open garage. They won’t estimate the value of the stolen goods. The burglary remains under investigation.

Police recommend residents keep their doors locked and closed at all times.
