Alexandria police say a burglar broke into an 1100 block Princess St. home late last month after smashing a rear window but left without taking anything.
The break-in occurred sometime between midnight and 1 p.m. October 24, said Ashley Hildebrandt, department spokeswoman. The suspect tossed a rock through the victim’s kitchen window, got inside and then left through the back door.
The victim discovered evidence of the home invasion — including the open rear door — when he returned home about 1:09 p.m.
Police aren’t speculating as to why the burglar left empty-handed. There were no witnesses and authorities don’t have suspect descriptions. Broken window aside, there was no other property damage, Hildebrandt said.
