Homicide in Penn Daw
Police responded to a call for a shot person in an apartment in the 2900 block of Furman Lane in Alexandria on Saturday, May 10 shortly aft er 11 p.m. Offi cers discovered a deceased man, shot in the upper body.

Preliminary suspect information was a male, wearing darkcolored pants and a black, hooded sweatshirt.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau, crime scene technicians, the police helicopter and K9 units responded to the scene.

The victim has been identifi ed as 49-year-old Michael Anthony Ross, of Suitland. MD.

This is the eighth homicide in Fairfax County this year.

Bomb Threat
At the 100 block of South Reynolds St., on May 12 at 11:55, the victim, a 34 year-old employee, received a telephone call stating that there was a bomb at that location and she should leave with her fellow employees. A search of the building yielded no explosive devices.

Armed Robbery
On May 8 at 2:32 a.m. at the 3800 block of Russel Rd., the victim, an 18 year-old Alexandria resident, was approached by four black males who threatened him with a weapon and removed personal property. There were no injuries.

Petit Larceny
On May 7 between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., at the 2600 block of Cameron Mills Rd., George Mason Elementary School staff saw the unknown suspects in her classroom. When approached, the suspects left the building. Another staff member, a Fairfax County resident, later discovered some of her property missing. The first suspect is described as a black female in her 30s, 58,190 lbs, wearing a white sleeveless t-shirt and a tattoo on her right arm. The second suspect is described as a black female in her 20s, 54, 150 lbs and wearing a white shirt and Capri jeans.

Sexual Battery
On May 8, on the 3800 block of Russell Rd. at 11:55 a.m., the suspect, who ran away west on Prince St, touched a 29 year-old city resident inappropriately. The suspect is described a Hispanic male, 30-40, 58-510, 180lbs-200lbs. Th ere were no injuries.

News media asked to leave Grimm Dr.
Mr. John Sullivan, president of Cameron Station Civic Association, asked members of the news media to leave the private property section of Cameron Station, where they had been covering a story on U.S. Representative Vito Fossella. The media were compliant with this request and relocated onto public property on Cameron Station Boulevard.

Felonious assault arrest
On the 600 block of Notabene Dr. on May 10 at 3:55 am, the victim, a 35 year-old city resident, was assaulted with a toilet tank lid by the suspect aft er an argument. Carlos Antonio Vasquez Garcia, of the 600 block of Notabene Drive, was arrested and charged with Felonious Assault. Th e victim was treated at the scene and his injuries were photographed.

Robbery from person
At the 3800 block of Executive Ave. on May 9 at 9:05 pm, the victim, a 45 year-old city resident, was approached by two teenagers who robbed him of personal property.

Statutory burglary
At 722 North Henry St. on May 9, between 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm, an unknown suspect smashed a window and removed a wooden statue.

Grand Larceny: Auto
On the 5900 block of Quantrell Ave., between May 6 at 8:30pm and May 7 at 7:40 pm, a 2001 silver Toyota van was stolen.

On the 4600 block of Duke St., on May 9, between 1:00 pm. and 4:15 pm a 2006 black 4-door Hyundai was stolen.

On the 6200 block of Farrington Ave., on May 9 at 8:00 pm, a 2001 white 4-door Toyota was stolen.

On the 3000 block of Park Center Drive, between May 8 at 3:00 pm and May 8 at 7:00 am, a green Kawasaki motorcycle was stolen.

Statutory Burglary
4500 block of Ford Ave.. Between 05/09 between 9:00 P.M. and 05/10/ 10:00 A.M. Unknown suspect used force and entered the business and removed computer equipment from several offi ces.
