Police are investigating the disappearance of cash from the jug a 200 block E. Del Ray Ave. homeowner was using to store money.

He had kept the jug-turned-piggy bank in a secluded area of his house, according to police records. The homeowner reported the missing “large sum” of money to authorities about 1:23 p.m. October 18. 

There were no signs of forced entry, but the victim had workers in his house not too long before. Still, authorities have no suspect descriptions, said Ashley Hildebrandt, department spokeswoman. 

While they helped themselves to the homeowner’s savings, the thieves did not take the jug, she said.
