Joshua Moore, 20, and Jamal Berry, 18, appeared in Alexandria District Court Friday for the alleged murder and robbery of Khalil Siddiqi earlier this year. The two suspects face robbery and first-degree murder charges in the case.

Judge Donald M. Haddock Jr. certified both Moore and Berrys cases to the grand jury, which convenes again on April 13. The grand jury will then decide to send the case the citys first murder of the 2009 to trial based on the evidence present at the time.

Siddiqi, 50, a taxi driver with Alexandria Yellow Cab Co., was shot in his cab in the early hours of January 18 at the corner of Princess and Buchanan Streets in North Old Town.

The third suspect in the case, a juvenile, had a preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday that has been postponed until April 7 after the defense filed for a continuance and additional time. April 7 was the soonest available open court date, according to Commonwealths Attorney Randy Sengel.
