Regular riders on the city’s bus lines will see fares go up by 10 cents this summer among other changes to the transit service, DASH officials announced last week.

Starting in July, the base fare will rise from $1.50 to $1.60 while the cost of a monthly pass will jump from $35 to $40. DASH’s board of directors also are weighing cutting the peak period and Saturday AT1 extension, which runs between the King Street and Eisenhower Metro stations.

Citing a possible reduction in city transportation spending, transit officials said the wait time for the popular King Street Trolley could increase from 15 to 20 minutes. Alexandria’s multimillion-dollar shortfall prompted city officials to drop a plan to link Old Town and Del Ray by trolley earlier this year.

Still, DASH officials expect to create a new cross town route connecting Mark Center with Potomac Yard; increase midday and peak period service on the AT8 line; and run the AT10 line an extra two hours Monday through Saturday.
