Police have arrested a Washington man in connection with one of three burglaries at the Nannie J. Lee Memorial Recreation Center in recent months.

Jamar Hunter, 22, faces burglary and destruction of property charges after being arrested in the District on November 26. The charges stem from the last of three break-ins at the recreation center since September.

The first occurred over Labor Day weekend, when the thief got into the offices of the Alexandria Soccer Association and stole cash. The recreation center was targeted twice more – on October 19 and November 22 – and money collected during recent fundraisers went missing.

Police identified Hunter as the likely culprit after the third burglary. He was extradited to Alexandria on Tuesday and released on a $5,000 bond. Other charges are pending, officials said.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the burglaries or Hunter to contact detective Peter Feltham at 703-746-6851
