A jogger on an evening run on Duke Street was shot in the chest with a pellet after hearing a popping noise emanate from a passing motorist last week.
Jogging east on the sidewalk, the victim spotted a silver sedan take a left turn onto Duke Street from Dulany Street about 9:20 p.m. As the car passed him, he heard the shot and immediately felt pain in his chest, police said.
The sedan continued down Duke, leaving the victim uninjured. Police said he refused medical treatment at the scene.
Authorities dont believe the shooting is connected with a similar incident in August. A couple strolling down South Alfred Street about 7:49 p.m. August 23 reported hearing a popping noise from a nearby pick-up truck. The woman felt a BB hit her back, but was uninjured and did not seek prosecution.
Suspect descriptions were unavailable, police said.
