Fairfax County police officers in the Mount Vernon District conducted a sobriety checkpoint to deter and apprehend intoxicated drivers on Saturday, May 10 from 11 p.m. until 11:45 p.m.  Eight officers and four auxiliary police officers participated in the checkpoint.

All motorists were stopped and drivers were checked to assure that their abilities to drive had not been impaired by alcohol or drugs.

About 233 motorists were stopped on Lockheed Boulevard near the intersection of Fairchild Drive. One arrest was made for DWI. One person was charged with possession of a false identification card. Two traffic summonses were issued for no operators license.

The time of the checkpoint was shortened due to police response to a homicide in the Mount Vernon Police District.
