MOMs Organic Market is partnering with a Round Hill, Va., farm to supply their Mount Vernon Avenue location with Animal Welfare Approved eggs.

The high-welfare, pasture-raised eggs will come from SunPower Farm, owned by Jamie Pantel. AWA, a national nonprofit, certifies farm animals are raised ethically and in either a pasture or on the range.

Having [the AWA] seal of approval on our products is important to us, Pantel said in a statement. We know that conscientious, compassionate consumers look out for it.”

Chickens at SunPower farm receive daily access to a pasture and are kept in straw bedded coops at night. AWA officials say eggs from stress-free hens boast more flavor and higher levels of Omega 3.
