Councilwoman Alicia Hughes gets up at 7 a.m. on a good Saturday and she thinks the Old Town farmers market should cater to like-minded risers. She wants to consider shifting the 6 to 11 a.m. market back an hour because many people are up at that time, but not out at that time.
Other council members exhibited unease, citing traffic issues, the importance of predictability and vendors inventory.
We should not make this decision on whether or not some members of council get up at 6 because some people do get up that early and get to the market. In fact, its quite busy at 6 a.m., Councilman Paul Smedberg said.
Council agreed to move forward with circulating a memo.
