An apartment management company claims evicted tenants stole a refrigerator from a North Ripley Street apartment earlier this month, police say.

The stolen fridge went missing overnight on October 6 from a residence in the 700 block of North Ripley, according to authorities. The management company noticed the theft when they arrived to evict the family about 11:07 a.m. The tenants were already gone, police said, and so was the appliance. 

No description of the refrigerator is available, said Jody Donaldson, department spokesman. Nothing else was missing from the apartment, he said. 

The theft remains under investigation, though authorities will contact the former renters.
