A gas leak has shut down several streets near the King Street Metro, Alexandria Police announced shortly after noon on Friday on social media.

Police said King Street is closed from North Peyton Street to Commonwealth Avenue, in addition to Cameron Street from North Peyton to Commonwealth and Harvard Street from King to Cameron streets. 

It’s not clear where the gas leak originated and there’s no timeline for when the streets will be reopened.
