Andualem Tesema Kusa, 27, of Falls Church, pled guilty last week in an Alexandria federal court to his role in a string of armed robberies around the region last summer, including an attempted robbery at the United Bank on South Washington Street in Alexandria.
Court records indicate that Kusa entered each location at least eight armed with a gun and dressed in various disguises, including a business suit, white robe and headdress, fake goatee beard and glasses. He took between $400 and $1,900 at each successful armed robbery, according to court documents.
An employee at the Alexandria bank locked the door before the robbery could occur, according to an Alexandria Police Department spokesman.
