Alexandria police say locks protecting a 4100 block Duke St. restaurant’s storage areas foiled a would-be burglar late last month.
The restaurant manager reported the attempted thievery about 11:42 a.m. November 28, according to police reports. Authorities believe the burglar struck sometime earlier that morning, but couldn’t get past the locked doors.
Locks securing both the cold and regular storage areas were damaged in the attempted heist, said Ashley Hildebrandt, department spokeswoman. There were no witnesses.
The department has not received any other similar reports from nearby restaurants or businesses, she said.
