Two Harrisonburg residents are awaiting transfer back to Alexandria on burglary charges after allegedly ransacking a pair of Old Town homes in recent weeks.

Brian J. Woods, 45, and Jacqueline K. Moore, 50, are being held on separate charges in Harrisonburg. They were arrested by authorities there last week on unrelated charges, said Jody Donaldson, department spokesman.
Police say the charges in Alexandria stem from the burglary of a 100 block S. Lee St. home and a 400 block S. Fairfax St. residence.

The South Fairfax Street resident reported the burglary after coming home from a roughly two and a half hour trip at 2:30 p.m. and noticed missing jewelry, antique silver and checks.

The South Lee Street homeowner did not notice the thefts immediately due to ongoing renovations to the building, but eventually realized sterling silver was missing from their chest after an out-of-town trip.

Police credit hard work by the criminal investigations sections detectives in pinning the crimes on Woods and Moore. They face two counts of burglary, grand larceny and check fraud.

The investigation remains open and further chargers could be coming, police said. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact Sgt. Jamie Bridgeman at 703-838-4602 or the Crime Solvers tip line at 703-838-4858.
