The two school resource officers at Alexandria City High School were put on leave on Dec. 16 after a “serious complaint” was lodged against them, according to the city.

The city and Alexandria Police Department did not provide any further details about the case, citing the need to “preserve the integrity of the investigation,” according to a news release.

“APD takes complaints regarding misconduct seriously and is working diligently to investigate this situation,” APD stated in the release. “The officers have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.”

According to several sources who wanted to remain anonymous and the Washington Post’s reporting, the case stems from a former student who reported a SRO engaging in sexting and sexually inappropriate conversations with them during their time at ACHS.

The city and APD have not commented further on the case.
