Morning rush hour on South Patrick Street took a turn for the worst on Tuesday morning after three cars were involved in a hit-and-run crash, according to a news release from the Alexandria Police Department.
APD officers were alerted to the incident at about 6:25 a.m. on Tuesday. By the time officers arrived, the driver of the suspect vehicle had fled the scene on foot, according to the release.
The Alexandria Fire Department arrived on the scene to extricate one driver from their car, after which the two drivers impacted by the crash were taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release.
APD is still investigating the situation and anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact Officer Jeff McDaniel at 703-851-2297.
