Claiming to be a construction worker, an unidentified suspect distracted a local woman long enough for his partner to sneak into the home and rifle through her belongings, authorities say.

The suspect contacted the victim at East Oxford Avenue home October 22, claiming to update her on fictitious construction work scheduled nearby, police said. Later, she discovered belongings scattered and misplaced, though nothing was stolen.

Authorities now believe another suspect snuck in while the homeowner was distracted, said Jody Donaldson, department spokesman.

Police dont know what motivated the ruse and subsequent break-in. Suspect descriptions were not immediately available.
