An Old Town homeowner returned to his residence late last month to discover thieves had made off with a pair of decorative brass balls outside of house.

The two oval shaped balls were part of the 100 block S. Lee St. residents front stairway railing, said Ashley Hildebrandt, department spokeswoman. They were likely stolen sometime between August 26 and the 28th, she said. 

There were no witnesses and authorities dont know what motivated the theft. Police do not have descriptions of the suspects.
