Alexandria Little League is hosting the Junior League State Tournament, starting Friday at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park.

Opening ceremonies will take place at the field on Thursday and opening pitches will start on Friday morning.

Twelve teams from across Virginia, including the Alexandria Little League Junior
All-Stars, will vie for the state championship and the chance to make it to the Southeast Regional Tournament. Winners of that tournament move onto the Junior League World Series.

Last year, the Alexandria Little League Intermediate All-Stars won the state championship before ultimately losing to the South Carolina state champions.
