Noah Lyles, the 2019 200-meter world champion, cinched the bronze, his first Olympic medal, Wednesday morning at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games.

Lyles, a 24-year-old T.C. Williams High School graduate, ran the fastest time of 2021 during the U.S. Olympic Trials in July and won his bronze medal with the same time, 19.74 seconds.

Canadian Andre De Grasse took gold in the race, with a time of 19.62 seconds, and American Kenny Bednarek took the silver medal, with a time of 19.68 seconds.

At the U.S. Olympic Trials, Lyles won, and Bednarek came in second. All three Americans qualified for the 200-meter Olympic final, with the third American being 17-year-old Erriyon Knighton, who came in fourth on Wednesday.
