A local man ended up in police custody after trying to pull the underwear off of a woman at a 3100 block Duke St. CVS Pharmacy yesterday afternoon, authorities say.

Abayneh Yemer, 25, of Alexandria faces attempted sexual penetration and sexual battery charges in the wake of the 2:30 p.m. alleged assault. Officers arrived shortly after Yemer reached under the victim’s skirt in an apparent attempt to remove her undergarments, police said.

He was quickly arrested and is being held without bond.
