An unknown man walked into a 5700 block Merton Court building and began beating another man in an apparent attempt to steal money earlier this month, police said. 
    
The assailant entered the building about 5:27 p.m. and punched the victim repeatedly. The two did not know each other, said Ashley Hildebrandt, department spokeswoman. 
    
The men scuffled until the suspect, described as in his 20s, broke free outside of the building. He then fled, Hildebrandt said. 
    
There were no injuries and authorities have yet to catch the suspect, she said.
