A vandal scrawled graffiti across the walls of the Douglas McArthur Elementary School during Memorial Day weekend, authorities said. 

Principal Deborah Thompson reported the graffiti, a collection of letters and images, according to department spokeswoman Ashley Hildebrandt, at about 9:55 a.m. on May 31.  

The spray-painted graffiti was not extensive and there is no known gang connection to the vandalism, Hildebrandt said.
