On Saturday, nearly 4,000 volunteers, supporters and activists attended 20 Barack Obama “Campaign for Change” office openings across the state.
In the Fairfax County section of Alexandria, about 250 people showed up at the new South Fairfax office at 8796 Sacramento Drive in the Mount Vernon area.
The office openings generated hundreds of new volunteers in every region of the state, and kicked off an intense grassroots effort to elect Obama president. John McCain’s Mid-Atlantic campaign office opened in Crystal City in May.
“We’re taking our fight to every region of the Commonwealth,” Obama Virginia State Director Mitch Stewart said. “The level of enthusiasm we saw Saturday is a clear indication that Virginians are ready for change and excited about Obama’s plans to get Virginians back to work, lower gas prices and bring a responsible end to the Iraq war.”
