Alexandria police conducted a sobriety checkpoint to deter and apprehend intoxicated drivers from 10 p.m. last Saturday, June 27, to 4 a.m. on Sunday, June 28.
Officers stopped and checked drivers to assure that their abilities to drive had not been impaired by alcohol or drugs.
About 806 motorists passed through the checkpoint in the west-bound lanes of the 5700 block of Duke Street, according to Alexandria police. Seven arrests were made for driving while intoxicated. Forty-one summonses were issued for miscellaneous traffic offenses and four criminal arrests were made.
