Two people are dead and another one injured after a double shooting at Gold Crust Bakery Co. on East Monroe Avenue, an Alexandria police spokesperson said Friday night.

Police responded to a “shots fired” call a 7:30 p.m.Police arrived on the scene and found two victims. One victim, Kossi Djossou, a 19-year-old Fairfax resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of her death, police said. 

The other victim is in stable condition at a local hospital to be treated for injuries, police spokeswoman Ashley Hildebrandt said.

The shooter, 50-year-old Jose Russo, who police found several hours later, shot himself in the head as officers approached, according to a statement from the Alexandria Police Department. 

This homicide is the fifth in Alexandria this year.
