Police are investigating a homicide that occurred Thursday night just blocks from the Braddock Road Metro station.
Around 11:30 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of N. Fayette St. after reports of a shooting. When they arrived, police found Shakkan Elliot-Tibbs, 22, of Woodbridge suffering from a gunshot wound.
Elliot-Tibbs was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. Police spokeswoman Crystal Nosal said she had no further information about the investigation Friday.
The incident marks the first homicide in Alexandria in 2015.
