Police officers recovered a pair of stolen license plates after a motor vehicle crash on the 600 block of North Washington St. exposed the pinched tags on May 24.

The 3:46 p.m. crash left the motorists trunk wrenched open, said Ashley Hildebrandt. Officers found the illicit out-of-state plates inside after arriving at the scene, she said.

The driver allegedly told officers he planned to turn them in, but never got around to it, according to police reports.

No arrests have been made, Hildebrandt said.
