City police say a hooded man robbed a motorist hauling a backpack from the trunk of his vehicle parked near the intersection of Fillmore Avenue and West Campus Drive earlier this month.

The suspect approached the victim from the rear about 1:42 p.m. November 9, according to city police. He implied possession of a gun — though it was never seen — and took the victim’s wallet and cell phone, said Jody Donaldson, department spokesman.

After taking the victim’s valuables, the suspect, described as about 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-2 inches in height and weighing roughly 200 pounds, fled on foot. He wore a black-hooded sweatshirt, black gloves and blue jeans at the time, police said.

Police are investigating the robbery.
