The school board unanimously adopted a budget of more than $200 million on Thursday, for the fiscal year 2009, a 6.1 percent increase from last years approved budget expenditures.
The board-approved budget comes after months of negotiation among board members, educators, public citizens and other ACPS staff.
We werent able to meet all the needs, but I think we have struck the appropriate balance, board member Arthur Peabody said.
The board submitted the numbers for review by City Council, which will make an official approval in May of this year. ACPS staff is aiming to have the revised budget available to the public by Feb. 20.
